Lauren McKenzie, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, received her Associate’s License in 2019 after graduating from North Carolina Central University’s Mental Health Program.  She has experience working with clients ranging from 6 to 60 and delights in walking through life’s different stages and challenges with her clients.  She loves hearing the stories and strengths of those that she works with and tries to magnify those characteristics through their work together.

Lauren McKenzie’s counseling focus is on working with older children, adolescents, and their families in navigating anxiety, anger, depression, attention concerns, impulse control, trauma, and communication challenges.  She uses a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach to treatment where she discusses how thoughts, feelings, and behavior play varying roles in how people engage in the world.

An activity that Lauren enjoys is going on walks and spending time in nature with her two children; the excitement of discovering a worm or seeing an airplane overhead reminds her of the small adventures that life holds.  Lauren also enjoys watching movies with her husband, cooking new recipes (not always successfully), running with her dog, and spending time with those in her church community.
